Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have a team made up of consultants and specialist nurses who support people with diabetes to manage their condition. Consultants work in the Diabetes Centre, an outpatient service, and provide clinical support for those people with complications arising from their diabetes.
The Diabetes Centre is based at the King Edward VII Hospital.
Patients can self-refer to this service. Patients can also be referred by healthcare professionals.
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust offer a Diabetic Eye Screening Service (DES) for anyone registered with a GP in Berkshire. The aim of the service is to reduce the rate of avoidable visual loss through the detection of sight threatening problems (retinopathy).
