Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provide practical support to people with physical and mental illness, learning disabilities, long term conditions, or those experiencing the effects of ageing, to enable them to do the things they need or want to do.
The Trust enable people of all ages to carry out practical activities. These could be essential day to day tasks – such as dressing, cooking and going shopping, or the things that make us who we are – such as jobs, interests, hobbies and relationships.
Occupational therapy considers all of a person’s needs – e.g. physical, psychological, social and environmental – and helps to increase people’s independence and satisfaction in all aspects of life.
Patients are referred to this service by healthcare professionals.
Occupational Therapy for children and young people is for those who find everyday activities difficult due to a problem with their co-ordination skills, perception skills or sensory processing.
