We are delighted to present our latest Annual Report 2020-2021, detailing not only the work undertaken in the last year, but also highlighting our future post Covid-19. A year where working digitally has become the norm as a result of the global pandemic.
It demonstrates the impact of Healthwatch West Berkshire’s work on health and social care services in West Berkshire, where we can still raise concerns with the way services work during the pandemic, despite the difficulties imposed by working in a virtual world. We have continued to be the essential and successful, conduit for patient feedback.
Our report details how we have listened to individuals in the Ethnically Diverse Community, by running online events such as the West Berkshire Diversity Forum. How mental health and the emotional support and wellbeing of children and young people in West Berkshire had become a major area of focus for us, with our CAMHS survey and focus group work. Plus updates on the ongoing maternity issues, with the publication of our report on the maternity experience. It also showcases our fabulous volunteers and how people can get in touch to volunteer with us and make a difference.
Our Chair Mike Fereday says –
“Adapting to the new way of working was challenging but I am delighted to commend the staff of Healthwatch West Berkshire for the way that they have responded.”
“Our monthly Newsletters became daily as we sought to provide the residents of West Berkshire with up-to-date information on the pandemic. Of particular note was our fifth “Thinking Together” event which was held as a virtual event. This enabled providers and recipients of mental health support to exchange views. Holding the event virtually had both pros and cons but it proved to be very successful.”
