Boom! We won the Improving Health and Social Care award

We are delighted to have won the “Improving Health and Social Care” award at the Healthwatch England national conference on 1st October, following our Work helping Rough Sleepers in West Berkshire.
In West Berkshire, health services were struggling to understand the unique needs of people who do not have a home, making it harder for them to access support.

We spoke to 14 homeless people, as well as the charities and bodies that support them, to build a picture of the challenges.
We then used the experiences shared with us to create a media campaign aimed at ending rough sleeping by 2020, seven years ahead of the Government target. Fundamentally changing how homeless people are supported locally in West Berkshire, earning us this award.

Other nominees were, Healthwatch North Tyneside, Healthwatch Manchester, Healthwatch Suffolk and Healthwatch Wakefield, whom all did fantastic work for their communities.
We have also been in the local press since winning this award, in both the Newbury Weekly News and That's Thames Valley TV.
