Changes at Great Western Hospital, Swindon

This week, the decant will begin for the urgent and emergency care development which is under construction at Great Western Hospital, Swindon. Full details of the development, alongside other Trust’s development plans, can be found here: https://www.gwh.nhs.uk/wfp/

To support this construction work, some service locations are moving and the hospital wanted to provide the following update for upcoming moves.

On Wednesday 24 May, the Paediatric Emergency Department is moving temporarily to the children’s area in the Urgent Treatment Centre and in June, the ED Observation Unit will move into the ‘old’ Paediatric ED, which will have been repurposed to ensure it is suitable for these patients.

Other service moves will follow.

The public should continue to use services as usual. Any patients needing urgent or emergency care as a walk-in will continue to arrive at the Urgent Treatment Centre and be signposted to the right place for their care needs by the Clinical Navigator
