Three Healthwatch have joined forces after hearing locally, across different communities in West Berkshire, Wokingham and Reading, that people registered with local GPs are not aware of the new ways GP practices are working. Therefore their expectations do not match what they might experience when contacting their GP practice or seeking help.
The Healthwatch project will focus on exploring this further to understand what the public do know, where there are information gaps, and how communication can improve to address these. With the anonymous information that will be gathered, the aim is to be able to support GP surgeries to improve their communication with the public, thereby reducing the number of complaints received about access to GP-led services. Healthwatch wants to also increase public awareness of other options available for help and self-help, including, for example, the NHS App, thereby reducing phone waiting times. As part of the project, Healthwatch West Berkshire asking local residents from all communities, to join focus groups across the borough to talk about their experiences and views on their local GP practices.
We are looking for approximately 10 patients from each practice in West Berkshire to join us at venues across West Berkshire.
Each session will last approximately 1.5 hours, and refreshments will be provided, along with a thank you gift for attending.
Please select the link to Focus Group you would like to attend to reserve your space, or alternatively phone 01635 886210 and we can reserve your space for you.
