Caring for a family member, friend or neighbour can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be challenging.
Many unpaid carers juggle caring responsibilities alongside work, family life and their own wellbeing. That's why it's important to know that support is available – and it's completely free for carers in West Berkshire.
West Berkshire Council has partnered with Carers UK to provide carers with free access to a range of digital resources designed to make caring easier, less stressful and better organised.
One of the most popular tools is Jointly, an easy-to-use app that helps families and friends coordinate care, share updates, manage appointments, store important information and communicate with everyone involved in supporting a loved one. Whether care is shared between family members or delivered from a distance, Jointly can help everyone stay connected and informed.
Carers can also access a wealth of online resources through Carers UK's Digital Resource for Carers, including e-learning courses, practical guides, publications and workplace support information.
Despite the benefits, sign-up numbers remain low, meaning many carers could be missing out on valuable support. If you are looking after someone who is older, disabled, living with a long-term health condition or experiencing illness, now is the time to take advantage of these free resources.
