Earlier this month, NHS leaders in the Thames Valley region released their Commissioning Intentions for 2026–2030. This strategic plan outlines how healthcare services will be delivered across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire, including West Berkshire.
Key Priorities for West Berkshire
Integrated Care Transformation: The plan focuses on shifting care from hospitals to local communities. This means more services will be available in West Berkshire, such as rehabilitation, urgent care, and mental health support, reducing the need for travel to larger hospitals.
Neighbourhood Health Services: The introduction of co-located health centres aims to provide more accessible and coordinated care within local communities.
Health Inequalities and Prevention: With an £8 million investment, the plan targets areas with the greatest health challenges, aiming to improve access to care and promote healthier lifestyles.
Digital Health Innovation: The integration of digital tools, such as AI diagnostics and remote consultations, will enhance the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services.
