The refreshed Women’s Health Strategy for England sets out national priorities to improve how women access and experience health and care.

It highlights the importance of listening to women, improving access to services like contraception and menopause support, and making care easier to navigate—especially closer to home.

What this means for West Berkshire

At Healthwatch West Berkshire, we’ve already spent time listening to local women about their experiences. You told us what matters—clear information, timely access to support, and feeling heard when it comes to your health.

That insight continues to shape our work.

Looking ahead

As the new Thames Valley Integrated Care Board develops its local plans, including a women’s health strategy, we’ll be taking time to:

  • Review how national priorities are reflected locally

  • Understand what this means for services in West Berkshire

  • Look at how local plans align with what residents have already told us

This is about making sure there is a clear connection between national direction, local planning, and people’s real experiences.

Our role

We’ll continue to:

  • Stay up to date with local developments

  • Share relevant updates with our community

  • Highlight where local plans reflect what people have told us matters

As more detail becomes available, we’ll provide further updates on what it means for women in West Berkshire.
