Pressure Ulcers


Today is Stop Pressure Ulcers day. Pressure ulcers are damage to the skin and deeper layers of the skin. The ulcers happens when pressure is applied to the same area for a period of time, and cuts off the blood supply to the area.


People who have to stay in a bed or chair for a long time are likely to suffer from pressure ulcers, (also known as bed sores or pressure sores).


The ulcers can be extremely painful and can cause severe damage to the muscle and bone if not treated properly.


If friends or family who are at home are not very mobile, encourage them to move a little bit more. See the video below for more information.
